Happy pride month!
June is pride month in North America. Toronto’s gay pride parade will take place on Canada Day this year. The day before, on June 30th is the Pride and Remembrance Run which starts at 10 a.m. I have participated in the pride run for the last 5 years. If you’re in Toronto that day show your community spirit and register. It’s a lot of fun, and trust me, you will not be disappointed. Look at how much fun Lisa and I are having in the in the photo above! SO MUCH FUN! Ha.
Also on that day is the Dyke March, and a whole lot of other fun activities. Find a patio in the village and drink yourselves silly!
The Sunday parade is the centrepiece of an entire week of festivities starting on June 22. Church St. (a.k.a the village) is closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian thoroughfare so bring your family and have a blast! Oh yeah, don’t forget to dance!
To celebrate Pride 2012 I have added the rainbow flag colours as my background. It’s kind of bothering me already but I’ll change it when June is over. I hope I can last that long. It’s very… LOUD!
Here’s a video of last year’s celebrations. I think it was made by a guy in Brazil or something. Everybody interviewed in the video are drunk. I apologize on their behalf. You’ll be pleased to know that I cherish pride and remain sober. Okay, no I don’t.
There’s a part two to this video if you want to watch more. That’s assuming you could get through the one I posted.
UPDATE: I already got sick of the rainbow background and removed it. Perhaps I’ll put it back up during pride week.
